A Crystal Hack to Stop Hating Your Thighs

If you're like most women, you have experienced (or are experiencing) a period of exhausting insecurity during which you resent your body. Every item of clothing is terrible, mirrors are to be avoided, and any person that says you look great is full of it. One of my personal contentions through the years has been my thighs.

Ladies, unhinged animosity towards your body isn't going to be alleviated by punitive diets and angrily foaming at the mouth over the weight of Victoria’s Secret models. Instead, if you make a conscious effort to redirect your attention from what's going on on the flesh level to your internal workings, you can create real confidence that isn't dependent on how flattering your pants are that day.
Okay, so it's not as easy as an overnight "Super! I'm cured now. These meaty thighs rock!!" In the world of healing crystals, one of my favorites is rose quartz, and it's a beautiful tool to help you give yourself a dang break. I used it to facilitate a much-needed shift in how I viewed myself, and to this day it remains one of my very favorite rocks to play with.

Crystals have this cool ability to securely hold their particular energy, passing it on to the user through interactions such as meditation or wearing it. In the case of rose quartz, this is unconditional love—of self, others, or life in general. This stone is a favorite among crystal users for its beautiful and calming vibe of pure love. It’s like a warm energetic hug. According to Energy Muse, when you work with this stone, "The love you seek will show up first in yourself, and then you will begin to recognize it all around you." And it’s preeeetty, isn't it?
Here are three quick and easy rituals you can do to soak up the lovey-dovey vibration of rose quartz and help you experience a shift towards self-love:
1. PUT ON LOVE
Each morning before leaving the house, place a piece of rose quartz in your pocket, bra (don't make it weird—it's your little secret!), or as a piece of jewelry. Place it on your person mindfully and make a statement to seal the deal. Say something like “Spirit of rose quartz, please lend me your energy today. Guide me to show myself kindness and love in all that I do.”
2. BATHE IN LOVE
Crystal baths are awesome self-care rituals. To bring the energy of rose quartz into the mix, fill your bath (bonus points for adding rose essential oil or rose petals!), light a white or pink candle, and place your rose quartz on the side of the bath. Put on some positive and calming music. Once you get in the tub, place the stone in your hands and feel its magic seeping in through your palms and running through your whole body. Say, “Spirit of rose quartz, please infuse your energy into this water. Bathe me in love and light.” Place the stone into the water and imagine the water turning pink and glowing. Lie back and feel the love soak in!
3. HOLD LOVE
Find a quiet place where you can be alone and grab your rose quartz. You might be able to spare 20 minutes or just 30 seconds before life summons you back. No matter how much time you have, it is an act of self-love in itself that you take that time. Hold the stone in your hands and say, “Spirit of rose quartz, please lend me your energy. Show me how to love and honor my body and myself.” Imagine the stone glowing pink in your palms and inhale its loving energy. Once you’re done, express gratitude for the stone’s energy and for yourself.
Being free from the constant fussing over your looks isn't something that happens overnight, and it might not ever go away completely. However, if you are determined to make a change in how you feel, if you want to generally cheer the heck up about it, then frequent small acts such as these will make a huge difference. Breaking a habit takes daily intention, and after a while, you'll be able to recognize when you're falling back to your old ways of unrelenting self-criticism, and you can course correct back to positivity.
Energy Muse is a great place to start if you're looking for rose quartz stones and jewelry. Their product descriptions on their site also contain helpful information on the stones, and their blog has some more ritual ideas. Go take a look, love bugs!
